I just converted my 50W Raycus Fiber Laser from EzCAD 2 to Lightburn Galvo. Overall the new software is working great and I am excited for the improvements over EzCAD…but I sorely miss one feature that I’d love to get back: Setting a 10 second delay between passes.
Some projects I use the laser for are on thin metals and the heat absorbed causes the material to warp (lifting it off of the workspace). In EzCAD, it was very easy to insert a “pause” or “wait” line into the cut order to allow the metal to cool, reducing warpage and discoloration.
Is this a feature that LightBurn supports? I’m crossing my fingers.
I’m not familiar with the world of galvo, but LightBurn has a feed feature in the Laser Tools menu drop down. In the past (which may have been RDWorks days, one could activate the auto-feeder even though one did not exist.
With the feed activated, one has to calculate the desired delay by determining the set speed and an imaginary distance. You’ve suggested a ten second delay. Setting a feed of 1000 millimeters with a speed of 100 mm / second should give you a ten second delay.
I was able to implement this in a CO2 laser with a much earlier version of LightBurn. When I checked out the feed option moments ago, the interface is a bit different but may yet work for your purposes.
