I make HO scale dioramas and use signs I’ve download from online sources. Some of the signs are odd shapes. Is there any way to physically place a printed sign on the laser bed and have the laser cut it out? This is an example of the type of sign I’m referring to.
Print and cut is the answer. Print the sign with targets added to the print and follow the procedurte.
Yes, as @thelmuth suggests.
I prep’ed your image by deleting the white background, making it transparent.
Then use the Trace Image with Trace Transparency selected to produce the outline of your sign.
I would use this outline with targets for the Print and Cut operation.
Thank you for this info. Can you tell me how to delete the white background?
I didn’t know you could do this in Lightburn. I usually use Gimp then finish it up in Lightburn.

Jack and Alan, For this Image, I used Image Trace to capture the external bounds of the image shape and then used Crop to remove the background.
-Ungroup result and delete the unwanted. Turn Image Output off (fade image) to make the selection more visible.
-With both the boundary and the image selected, right-click and select ‘Crop’ to remove the background.
Thanks, when I get a few, I’ll check it out.

Thats extremely useful, thanks for mentioning it Rick.
Thanks. As with most things in LightBurn and MillMage, there’s more than one way to do the things! ![]()
Thank you all for your help. I think I have it figured out now. If I have any more questions, I know where to turn.
Cheers.
