Hello,
I have a Fox Alien Reiser Mega 80w diode that has been running on version 1.5.02 (on a Mac running Sonoma 14.6.1) generally well. Since the “cut selected graphics” function was added (which I appreciate btw), there has been a couple times where I was using it just fine then forgot it was still toggled on and clicked on a shape outside of my work area. As I was expecting to frame some shapes within the work area next, I was shocked when it tried to frame the shape outside the work area. This caused a very sudden and hard crash of my laser into the rail which then triggered a hard limit alarm and subsequent job halt.
After the most recent crash, I disconnected and reconnected, homed it and framed my next cut. It framed fine much to my relief so I proceeded with a cut of 2 shapes. The first shape cut fine and the second started to cut correctly then became drunk and just went wandering (see pic). So then I framed another cut above the first. Framing was fine but then it ended up cutting into my first shape which was obviously not where it framed.
Aside from checking the mounts and belts, I wondered if anyone can suggest what all I need to check on the machine in case this is a hardware situation? Do I also need to reset the home position or something like that? It’s just weird that it did work initially after the crash and then got drunk. Maybe it has a concussion?
Yes I’m using an older version as I have been waiting to do the update due to quite a few bugs I’ve read about and wanted to let those get sorted first. I read through the updates since the version I was using and also searched the forum however I do not see any other complaints of this issue nor a fix. Maybe I’m not searching it or describing it correctly? Has it happened to anyone else? I assume that this feature should not allow this to happen. If a fix been released for this problem, can you tell me which patch please? I’ll run the update after work today if time allows and see how it goes.
I would appreciate any help here. Thank you
Kathy
Try this. In the settings (gear icon) enable ignore out of bounds shapes.
Ah, I didn’t know about that. Thanks so much!
So I checked the ignore out of bounds shapes setting and it was already on. Tested my machine on the old software so as to not muddy the water. It was fine thankfully. Ran the update and the new version is ok so far too. Found a cord had gotten caught on the corner of my waste wood so I think that was the drunkenness.
Still very concerned about the crashes if I forget to turn off the cut selected graphics feature and select something out of bounds at the wrong time again and I don’t want to test to find out if it will actually prevent a crash with the new update. It was surprising how hard the hit was. Seems buggy to me but I’m not an engineer. Hopefully a developer can shine a little light on it.
Thanks!
I’m wondering if it’s actually the “ignore out of bounds” function that’s broken? Would love to get a fix for this. Am I the only one with this problem?
