Cut shapes tool adds line

Cut shapes tool adds a line… What am I doing wrong? I put a box around text where I want it cut, select text then box then click “Cut Shapes”… It cuts it but a line is added as shown…

Yes. This is expected behavior if this layer is set to ‘Fill’ as a filled shape needs to be closed, so we do that for you when you cut a filled shape using this option. The examples below show how we deal with the different layer settings for shapes when using the ‘Cut Shapes’ tool.
