So I am often cutting huge amounts of text, when possible I am moving letters closer together to reduce laser time. The problem I am having is that sometimes the machine will cut the outer border and then try to separate the letters which obviously doesn’t work very well as the letters have fallen into the tray. Just wondering if there is a setting or trick to avoiding this when setting up jobs.
Might be they are too close…
I don’t think it knows there is not a need to complete the cut.
You can ensure the optimize mechanism is set properly in the laser window.
I think if they are separate/smashed together it will attempt to complete each character.
You might be able to persuade it if you go into the node editor, but that would be time consuming…
Maybe one of the wizards knows of a way.
Don’t have it cut redundant lines, under optimization use “remove overlapping lines”.
I would use the “tab” feature.
You would only need a few tabs to hold them in place.
Thanks for the reply, I have the remove overlapping lines setting selected. Would rather not use tabs as the client wants a very perfect polished edge.
I guess this isn’t something that can’t be done easily, unfortunately, which is painful as the job involves about 600 characters and a few days of laser time. I will have to just accept the extra laser on time.
You can choose the size and location of the tabs. It’s not going to make them “not polished”. You should do a test with scrapwood.
@joey333 It’s hard to tell from the picture exactly what it is you are printing.
Are the letters NIIIIR? I assume you’re saying it’s somehow cutting the outlines of the entire group of letters thus allowing that group to fall through rather than cutting out one letter at a time?
If so, you should take a look at the Order by Layer, Group, Priority component of the Optimization settings. The “Cut in direction order” might also be relevant. These should allow you enough control to force the cut order that you need.
If this is not what you’re describing can you provide some more context?
Also, share the .lbrn if you’re able and someone might be able to help you out.
