Hi all Half way through a job and the head stopped and now it’s going in reverse. How it’s a job I have done before, no power cut, machine is happy just going the wrong way. I have tried loading a back up but none of them change it back to the right way.
If this is the machine:
Then it uses leadscrews intended for CNC cutting. Laser motions tend to be both faster and more abrupt, putting the maximum speeds & accelerations intended for CNC use into play. Those values tend to be ahem optimistic and the motors may simply be unable to accelerate that hard, particularly if the machine has been used for a while and the leadscrews have collected the usual amount of crud.
Assuming the machine responds correctly to the jog controls, then …
While giving it a thorough cleaning, check for any mechanical binding along the length of the axis travel. Turning the leadscrews by hand (which may mean removing the motors) should be do-able without “too much” effort.
If that doesn’t solve the problem, reduce the axis acceleration values by a factor of four and run the same job again; if that helps, you can gradually increase the acceleration values until it stalls again, then back off by a factor of two.
If it’s no longer responding properly to the jog controls, then other problems rear their ugly head and will require more information for diagnosis.
Hi Ednisley This has happened before but a long time ago and I think you fixed it then and due to having a failing brain I can’t remember the fix. So it was it was cutting a job I have done before and it stopped mid job so I left it then it started going in reverse. If I use Gsender it works fine and also in Vcarve pro and I have checked the whole pc with all the programmes is up to date. I am running two ProVerXL 6050 plus Genmitsu’s one for laser and one for cutting, all been running well for years now. I made a check list for the settings which were all good and tried going back on the machine back up settings and still reverse when in lightburn. I am thinking there’s a toggle switch somewhere but not sure as I don’t play with settings if it’s working leave alone. Please if you need anything from me. Mark
Oh and when it is running it runs the patton upside down and backwords.
Then the Device Origin is in the diagonally opposite corner:
If that’s changed and you didn’t expect it, something else has changed and needs tracking down. On rare occasions, the machine controller has a stroke and fumbles its default settings.
You can restore automatic backups of both LightBurn preferences and machine settings from before “something changed”.
IIRC, you must Write the settings into the controller before they’re stored.
If those don’t set it right, then some debugging is in order …
