Is there a setting to enable to follow the position of the laser head on the display layout for the current job?
There is a show last position in laser window.
AFAIK, the LB buffers the commands to the controller. The feedback loop would not be accurate for laser position during the buffer stream. At the end of the stream, the position would be known.
I am wrong 2x a day, So I may be way off base.
It is true that there is a marker for the last position, but
If you look at Candel’s (admittedly a milling program) graphics, you can follow the position of the milling cutter in the XYZ direction during the milling process. That’s what I’m asking for.
That works for milling speeds, where the cutter doesn’t move fast enough that the inevitable delay due to buffered commands doesn’t make much difference. Candle can report the position a few commands after the fact and you’ll never notice.
Laser speeds, particularly in CO₂ machines, are high enough to make the position difference obvious, although the screen readout will change fast enough you can’t read the digits.
Run the G-Code for a CNC job through a time-accurate simulator, then do the same thing for a laser job. It’s a wonder to behold …
I enjoy watching the laser head (or 3D printer extruder) zipping along, without knowing its exact position. Stipulated: I’m easy to please.
