Does LB have the ability to calculate the area of an engrave?

Ok, so I’ve checked in Affinity Designer and this agrees with the 17762 mm² figure. So that’s using the convert to bitmap/trace/export to SVG → Inkscape method.

Hope this makes sense. If not just shout

Thanks laying out the Inkscape method. I must have missed a step as when I attempted i, it gave the area for each individual shape in the SVG, so something like 50 individual areas. I’ll try a test engrave and test the method. Thanks again.

It sounds like you’ve missed step 4 where you need to ‘Combine’ the shapes.

EDIT:
I’ve put together a video that shows all the steps. Hope this helps.

That’ll work, but you can just use the full size pattern.

All you do is weigh the pattern, divide by the reference’s weight, then multiply by the reference’s area.

Your file has lots of fiddly details around the drafting table legs, so I’d be tempted to shrink-wrap the entire table with a simple boundary and cut that out instead. It would increase the included area by a bit, but, given that I always under-estimate the amount of epoxy, over-estimating would be a Good Idea™.
