Had my laser 4ish months. Took a break for 2 weeks and have come back to this error.
Actions are:
Close door>Reset button> test at machine console (laser works fine).
Lightburn> $X, (or home) I get
$x
error:13
Safety door detected as opened and door state initiated.
Safety door detected as opened and door state initiated.
Laser won’t home and I get the same error.
I’ve managed to get into the machine console. Both door switch electronic boxes are red and the laser fires. I’ve tried to find vendor settings (to switch the door sensors off) but it’s not on the machine settings.
Apparently those switches are really fussy about having the chip tray in the proper place and the lid firmly closed, so this may be a case where a switch barely makes contact, then jostles open as the machine vibrates.
The chip tray switch seems particularly vulnerable to being in the wrong position, sometimes due to being mounted on a slightly mis-bent sheet metal bracket.
As a test, tape the switches closed to see if that improves the results. If so, then you must figure out why they’re not behaving properly, which may involve slightly bending their mounting brackets to make the answer come out right.
Edit: Page 47 of The Fine Manual shows a mechanical override for the tray switch, so you won’t need tape for that one.
Cheers for the answer. I did try the tape thing but it wasn’t tight enough I’ve got myself some plastic wrap things and I’ll give that a go and let you know how I get on.
one issue I had is that the controls lid was shifted slightly to the left and was rubbing against the main lid’s safety switches. I loosened the front screw on the controls lid, moved it to the right a bit and retightened the screw, also try wiggling all the spade connections on the safety switches to assure good connections. NOTE: the test push button on the display will fire the laser ALWAYS! bypassing all safety devices! the lid can be open, the tray out and the coolant not on and it will still fire the laser, >>> BE CAREFUL USING THE TEST BUTTON!<<<<
Error:13 is there. It’s something to do with the EX1 port on the motherboard. Either there is a malfunction in the reading of it or on the board itself. If you unclip EX1 port from the mother boards the laser starts working. If not you might be looking at a replacement motherboard (which after spending £400 odd on a machine stings even if it is only £40).
Please note: I don’t know if this means that the laser will fire with the lid open and I’m not willing to try - I like my eyes as they are.
Thanks for the replies all the same. It helped narrow down the issue.
