Drill not reaching past material thickness in Preview solid view. MM rc7

I got a file (source unknown) that needed fixing (something I could practice on). It has Pocket, Drill, and Profile operations. While messing with it, I noticed none of the drill operations show as making it through the material. I even increased the drill depth to 3.5mm where the material is only 2.8mm thick. The Profile and Pocket operations do show properly.

Is there a setting I am not seeing in the Drill operations???

By the way, I want to congratulate the Developers on the remarkable job they have done with MillMage. It went from “something I could use” when I made my J-pole antenna spacers to “Holy Cow! This is really good!”

I think the generated path is correct, and the issue is that our internal definition of the shape of the drill tip is still a piece of “test code” that was layering multiple shapes together. I’ll have a look.

And thank you! We’re pretty happy with how it’s turning out.

Fixed for the next update. If the drill bit has an included angle (tip angle), as most do, you’ll still need to specify a little deeper than the full depth of your project for it to do more than just “scribe” the bottom.

I figured it was just a display issue. The tool path trace showed an obvious increase in depth when I increased it.

Bless you!

Definitely! This is needed to get a clean bore all the way down. Just like drilling wood with a power drill.
