Unlike diode lasers, the CO₂ laser beam is invisible, so there’s no benefit in turning it on for framing / targeting. LightBurn removes options that aren’t applicable to the machine and that’s one you won’t see.
You can, however, manually pulse the laser using the machine console to verify its position. Because the pulse will damage the material, you should do it where you don’t care about the mark.
I use the red-dot pointer on my OMTech for Print-and-Cut alignment. For critical projects, I verify the dot is exactly at the beam position by pulsing the laser in the scrap side of the material, then jog the laser head to put the dot on the P-n-C targets:
Focus is critical, so do that before depending on the red dot!
Much thanks!
