It’s very inconvenient, but I am forced to do it this way. To open multiple layouts, I open several new windows with the program. However, I can only send engraving tasks from the first window. And if I need to send from another window, I have to close all the other windows. Is there any way to execute tasks sequentially from other windows?
If you are working with only one laser you need to disconnect it from the first window / instance of Lightburn, then you can connect the laser in any other window. The laser can only be connected to one place at a time.
That’s a function of USB.
“I meant several programs on one computer. Because I can’t open 5 files in one program. I have to open these 5 files in different windows, copies of the program. That means I am currently forced to disconnect and reconnect the USB cable.”
Correct, I understand what you’re doing. You don’t have to physically disconnect the laser cable, just disconnect it from the laser window in lightburn. As I’m writing this I’m realizing that there is not a disconnect option, you need to switch the connection. The simplest way I can think of is to create a dummy device and switch to that.
In the laser window click devices, then add manually, choose the “no machine” profile and give that profile the same parameters as your working machine (bed size and origin location). Then when you want to disconnect from your working window, select the no machine profile. That will disconnect from your laser and you can go to a different window and connect your laser there. If this is a frequent workflow, I would go so far as to make the no machine profile the default, that way there is no confusion as to which window is connected.
I don’t see where you created the “No Machine” Profile. But nevertheless, since I don’t know what machine you’re connecting to I’m not able to advise further.
I don’t know, but I’d think there was a work flow issue here. I don’t know why you need so many open. I’ve never had more than two and then I get confused.
I don’t think my jcz will let me disconnect it via the Lightburn panel without creating another device. There are only two options, both result in the jcz board connecting. I suspect auto is the same as the port option.
Good luck
