Experience After Downloading 2.1.02

So, after hearing some of the horrible experiences with the new 2.1.02, I decided to download it so I would have something to complain about.

And I do!

Issue #1: My tea got cold while I was importing my saved settings bundle and finding all the problems with the new version

Issue #2: I am unable to perform a camera alignment - I’m sure my running out of printer ink so I can’t print out the tags has nothing to do with it, so I’ll have to put up with the automatically imported camera settings being 3mm out on the X axis until I buy more ink(I’m too lazy to adjust the X setting)

Issue 3: Everything is working perfectly, which means I have absolutely nothing to complain about and for an old fart like me, complaining is my favorite hobby.

My thanks to the LightBurn Team. Excellent work.

For everyone with problems, export the settings bundle from your old version and import it directly after updating to the new version (found in ‘File’ - ‘Bundles’ - ‘Export/Import Bundle’)

I suspect that will solve a lot of problems; as will reading the Manual or the information already provided in this forum.

Good!.. I think? Pleased your tea got cold.

I don’t know any other software company that actively engages with their users on a personal and daily basis to answer queries, fix problems and introduce improvements in the way that the Lightburn developers do. And their efforts are complemented by the many regular forumites who are experienced users and ready to share their knowledge to help everyone else (too many to list, but you know who you are!).

I also just downloaded the latest version and installed it alongside version 1.7 which is what I have been running on my MacBook Pro. I was very concerned when first starting the latest version that it took absolutely ages to load - but once it did it seems to work. closing the program and re-running it seems to have solved the slow start problem, so I am assuming it was dong some kind of setup for first use?? The files I’ve tried work fine with my Omtech C02 laser, so I’ll stick with th new version for now until something breaks!!!

LOL!! Nicely done!!

Complaining and “lasering”

If you are using mac OS the initial load can take some time. Subsequent launches should be fine. We are recommending users give at least 5 to 10 minutes for the initial load to complete. After that each load should be normal.

I guessed it might be something like that. I ran several existing jobs and one new one using the new version and it all seems to work okay.

You don’t need printer ink, you can laser the pattern now, use the docs and let us know if anything needs clarification:

I also love to complain

Complaining is my hobby; lasering is my obsession.

I read that but after many seconds of thought (about three) I decided it was far easier to put it off and complain.

Agreed. LOL Tea should be ice cold and sweet.

When you said, “while I was importing my saved settings bundle”, I was/am with the understanding that when upgrading to a new LB version, ONLY the ‘LB “engine” changes and ALL of my personal settings STAY THE SAME for ALL of my configured lasers, (Longer B1 36W and my Commarker B4 30 Watt)…… Maybe you perform this importing as a feel good step, but, is it really necessary???

Thanks for replies…

Hank

I had several issues with 2.0. That’s when I first got on this forum to see if it was just me or everyone and found out quickly that it was infact everyone having similar various issues that seem to have since been resolved in 2.1. I’m getting use to it and it least it saved all my power settings this time which 2.0 did not. It does change the power a speed values switching from mm to in though which is different. The best improvement for me though is the Camera Alignment setup. It has worked perfectly. Way better than what I did before and I’m now able to place the item in the bed, update overlay and it’s pretty dang accurate every time. The QRcode next to the alignment crosses and it doing everything for you was amazing and highly appreciated.
