Deleted .lbrn file extension from registry and all seems to work as advertised. this works only for a single project at a time - open file, save and only on close it will update the icon. no way so I’m guessing to do this for all files or at least make lightburn update the icons on save and not only on close.

rename or delete .lbrn entry.

Oz, please check the attached project.
Try saving it once with the the surrounding text frame and without it (delete the frame, leave only text before saving) and see if you end up seeing the preview icon only when the frame is deleted from the project (only text) or vise versa…

Yes, this is what i did but first i exported it just as a backup. you can also just rename it to like .zzzz or whatever and check.
I have removed the whole thing. I icon is still the same and with double click still open the file. no preview, I am missing something 
I believed you, I just have no idea what that would be, or how to fix it. There is nothing special about the handling of text objects compared to others for the purpose of generating the preview.

You have to save files with the latest release (or at least the 0.9.09 release) for the previews to show up. Have you done that as well?
I am using the latest update. I made a new project and saved it. delete the registry, still no preview.
Yes, this is a great LB feature but unfortunately windows is unpredictable and so this works on some systems and not on others.
I also have no previews. Win 10 ver 1909 latest update.
I figure something by accident. in my laser folder I did search for just Lbrn (*.lbrn) and then lot of my project showed preview, not all, which is soooo helpful. So this may work for others.
If I close the search the preview also goes away - interesting…
