I have watched the videos that are out there and when I did this last week everything worked fine. I let the program find my laser and set it up.
I followed the video and did the little test burn step by step and it worked like it should.
This week I added my laser manually and got it set up. But now when I use the new one when ever I select the Fire Button to get the laser centered on the mark, it is actually burning instead of just lighting the spot.
I have the S-Value Max set at 1000 like the video said.
I have it set at 4.50% it burns, 4.25% it burns, 4.00% it burns. I have gone all the way down to .25% and it still burns.
Obviously I have a setting wrong somewhere.
It even burned when I selected the original laser that worked last week correctly.
In the console of LightBurn, type $$ and press enter. Copy and paste the text it outputs here.
The $30 setting should be 1000, since that is what your S-Value Max is set to. If it isn’t, then your S-Value Max is set incorrectly - they need to match.
I’ve seen occasional systems where the $30 setting was just 1, allowing it to be used as a simple on/off switch for external spindles, instead of varying the output power like it’s intended for. If you’re using it with a laser, you’ll want it set to at least 255, preferably 1000 so you have better control over the output power of the laser.
