This is my first time project and while it shows centered on the software screen, it’s obviously not on the material. Please help!!!

What machine are you using? What Controller? What is your origin point?

Figures, total opposite of what I use. I have an 80W China Red with a Ruida controller with origin in the back right… LOL
I will throw a few things out and see if some of it translates. For me, the actual corner of the text is the corner point, not the oversized box around it. Especially if I set that box for reference and not cutting. If I need to use it for positioning, I set the box at 1% power and 150mm/s. Well below the level of actually firing the laser, but the controller then recognizes the box and does a quick trace before going on to the part I really want. I have to do the same with a set of nested boxes for engraving rubber stamps to get them to come out right.
