First time set up of AlgoLaser 5w mini in GRBL. Communications good. Frame OK. When the laser goes to engrave it tries to go way off to the left and hits rail. Cut path is out of bounds and goes way left and way right.
Zoom right out past the edge’s select control/a you’ll probably find an artifact that you haven’t noticed, just delete it and you should be fine
Engraved designs have an overscan region to the left and right where the laser head accelerates up to the layer speed and decelerates to a stop before reversing on the next scan line.
One cause of excessive overscan is an absurdly high speed. For a diode laser, set LightBurn to use either inch/min
or (preferably) mm/min
, rather than inch/sec
or mm/sec
:
Also, use the Preview
window to verify the laser path before you send it to the laser. If any part of the overscan extends outside the green border, you must adjust something to fix that.
Thanks for help. I deleted the LB test project and made a new one. Seems OK now. I have a long way to go in the learning curve…lol
