Framing won't go nor Fire

Okay. This resolves any concern I had about homing and origin.

Can you confirm that framing and fire work as they should without rotary at this point?

If so, is the issue only occurring during rotary operation? If so, are you disabling homing for rotary?

Absolute Coord - Good
Home
Fire
Box Frame (with or without beam on)
Rubberband Frame (with or without beam on)

Current Position
Home - Good
Fire - Good
Box Frame - Nothing happens
Rubberband Frame - starts then stops after a bit

See attached.

Are these the results without rotary enabled or with rotary enabled?

I can’t tell from your results but it looks like you’re saying things work fine with Absolute Coords set, is that correct?

When working with Current Position, are you ever moving the laser head by hand? Meaning not using jogging controls? If so, that’s the likely reason this is not working. After homing, only use jogging controls exclusively to move the laser head. Then you’ll need to make sure that there is enough room on the bed to accommodate the shape you’re trying to frame based on the job origin position.

No rotary results.

Yes…Seems fine in Absolute Coordinates.

I move that thing by hand all the time. Hehehe…I have never really used the jogging controls.

This is why the laser believes you’re going out of bounds. The movements you make by hand are not tracked by the controller and so the physical location of the laser is different than the perceived location in the controller. You could potentially disable any such constraints around that but I’d advise against it.

OK…So what is the process to reset everything?

Every time you home you start from a clean slate. After you home, avoid moving the head by hand and you will not lose position.

And the Frame issues in Current Position? I was starting from Home.

What were you using as job origin? Anything other than lower-left job origin would have likely caused a potential collision and refused to run.

Abs Coord - Center
Current Position - Middle Left

Job origin doesn’t apply to Absolute Coords so any previously selected job position doesn’t affect motion.

Because job origin is on the middle of the left portion, the laser would need to move below the current home position. Since that’s impossible without crashing it’s raising the error.

OK…I guess I need some more info on Job Origin then…got a link to youtube or manuals?

Here’s a video on the various Start From modes:

Here’s a link to the documentation where this is reviewed:
Coordinates & Origin - LightBurn Software Documentation

In general the documentation is excellent and has many details. I’d encourage everyone to review it in depth.

Thank you very much. I usually use Abs Coord but was trying out Current Position to start engraving my tumbler from the left-center of the design and center it better. I will use the joggers so I don’t get the thing confused anymore.
