"From Inkscape to Lightburn, for layer-based cutting with parallel lines."

“Hello, I use LB for burning, but now I’m trying to trace parts of an image using Inkscape and then pass it to LB. I’ve found information on how to separate into layers, but I’m finding that the strokes that were simple in Inkscape now look like two parallel lines in LB. I’m not an expert in Inkscape, so if someone can help me, please use simple and easy-to-understand terms for a beginner. Thank you.”

When you trace an object in Inkscape (or LightBurn for that matter), by default you don’t get a single line. You get one set of lines for the inside of the traced area and one set of lines for the outside of the traced area. When set to fill, this gives the illusion of a solid line.

You can see this if you change the Display option under the View menu in Inkscape to Outline or similar.

You can accept that and adjust or alternatively you could attempt to do a “Centerline trace” in Inkscape to create a single line for the trace.

“Thank you very much, it has been very useful to me.”
