Recently purchased a new Laptop (Dell Inspiron 15 3000) at Best Buy, and had the Geek Squad transfer everything from my old Laptop including LIGHTBURN. Since then every design I try to laser stops engraving after a couple of minutes, and always at exactly the same spot in the design no matter which design I do. This never ever happened with my old computer.
I have a Ortur Laser Master Pro 2. This is a very frustrating situation…any help would be greatly appreciated.
Is your laptop going to sleep or possibly your USB ports going into power savings mode?
Thanks for the response. I changed the sleep settings, but now when I click on Home it travels to the lower left and makes a grinding noise causing me to hit the emergency stop.
The sleep settings and your new issue are almost certainly not related.
Does the same issue occur when you power-on your machine, assuming it goes through a homing sequence?
Check that your limit switches are positioned properly and are not impeded in any way. Try manually moving the laser head toward the switches. Is something preventing the laser head from engaging the switches? I’m going to guess the issue is with the Y-switch. It’s possible that if you have an adjustable laser head height mechanism that it’s so low it’s hitting the front rail of the frame. In that case if you can raise the head to avoid the issue then do so, or else you’ll have to reposition the Y-switch so that it engages earlier.
Thanks berainlb, issues solved!
Nice. What ended up being the issue?
The two screws that allow for sliding the laser up and down…the one on the left was ready to fall out, When I tightened it and sent the laser to home it went there with no problem. The stopping during mid design seamed to resolve itself. Thanks again for your help.
