I purchased a 30w Omtech Compact Mopa last week and everything was running smooth until this morning. I ran a test on a medal, added a cleanup pass and when I went to run it again, it was disconnected. I updated the computer “MAC”, Lightburn is up to date, deleted and re installed the machine 3 times, tried 3 different usb cables to my usb-c hub “my mac only has usb-c”, purchased a usb-c to usb-a adapter to eliminate the hub and nothing has worked! It was working fine without any hiccups until today and I changed nothing. Now I can get it to connect sometimes, but without clicking frame, it goes from ready, to framing, to ready, to framing a few times, then it just disconnects.
What could I be missing? I did update lightburn to 1.7.06 a few days ago, but it was working fine even after that. My Rudia Co2 via Wi-Fi and my Galvo UV via USB into the hub work just fine with no disconnect issues.
If I remove the laser and click “find my laser,” nothing comes up. I have to add it manually, then it will recognize it and the issue starts.
Thanks in advance for any guidance you can give.
Here is a short clip of the issue I’m describing. It never reconnected after it disconnects the last time.
An OS update?
This is usually futile as todays computers use lots of checks to prevent data loss. It’s also doubtful your cable will fail while you’re working on it.
Lightburn doesn’t talk to the USB port, it goes through the OS and the OS handles it for Lightburn.
The video looks more like there is an intermittent. I have a Cloudray 60W showed this issue and I found the USB connector on the machine is flakey. Sometimes I have to crawl under the bench and unplug/plug it in.
Check to see if your machines OS is actually seeing the device on the USB port. I don’t have a Mac, so you might have to wait or google it for instructions.
Hardware breaks, software doesn’t… might have bugs, but it’s not broken.
Yes I updated to the newest version of OS Sequoia 15.3 just to make sure it wasn’t the OS. No change
It’s just weird that I had literally just ran a test engrave with no issues, then when I went to do another test, it was disconnected…
I have since tested my UV and Co2 and both connect fine and don’t disconnect. I’ve also used the same usb that the UV was connected with and still nothing. I’m not a computer expert by any means so these types of issues really get me flustered
In case anyone else with this issue stumbles upon this post, it was a defective machine. After a week of back and fourth, I finally have a new one on the way. When the machine would warm up, after 3-4 test engraves, it would disconnect and not reconnect.
This is for a grbl machine, but it outlines how to check the drivers for a Mac.
