Hi
I have my galvo head mounted on a 1500 mm Linear X rail.
i am able to use lightburn in rotary mode but when engraving large area, there is a gap between each marking when the head moves to the next engraving.
This can be adjusted in easycad under splitmark2 but no where in lightburn .
Any solution to that ?
also the splitmarking is limited to 100 mm ? ( i use a 175 LENS )
It seem that lightburn does not have a home button also .
thanks for your answer
How big is the gap?
A couple of us have played around with this using an X table instead of moving the whole laser, but same thing basically. Sounds like you need to adjust your steps per rotation setting.
Assuming you are trying to create one long engraving.
If the engraving consisted of shapes that were smaller then the lens field size, you could use the “Run Whole Shapes…” Feature. It would adjust your movments to the white areas, each shape being it’s own split.
The issue I ran into is the accuracy of a linear rail, not quite as resolved as typical Line Interval of the laser so difficult to hit the slices exact enough to not leave an artifact. A better quality screw would have helped.
Nice looking setup anyway, engraving katanas?
a home button would be rad for sure… That being said, check your steps configuration… I would love to say its straight forward as make a long thing and measure the actual engrave vs the expected command… But I found that it was a lot of trial and error… and make sure you are testing an angled mark, testing pure X or pure Y mark can be deciving on alignment once you get very close.
What I did to align when I was messing around with my X table was to run a couple long lines with moves between or splits and look for alignment on the ends. If using rotary commands make a long rectangle with 2 or 3 even splits and look for sawtooth. It is difficult to just align one axis with the galvo, but if you used an x-y table and stationery galvo not so tough.
because I am moving my axis not my head (moving the head is brilliant by the way alignment issues are way easier) is I swept a dial indicator across the front of my galvo head and adjusted the axis until the dial indicator measured no change… I don’t know if its expected or not, but my galvo mirrors are square to the galvo head’s face plate so that worked for me…
