Galvo moving erradic

I have a JCZFiber card (LMC2015 FIBER-M) controling a galvo head SG2203 (same used on MR.CARVE M1 engraver) LightBurn recognized board and comunications is ok, but galvo is moving complete wrong, in pic linked bellow, I tried to engrave a simple 10x10mm square. If I change any parameter on galvo settings, it gives a complete different patern.

Google Photos

Have you created a configuration file for the jcz board?

In Lightburn you import the configuration information from the EZCad software. This allows you to set all the configuration properties. It also does a lens correction.

If you don’t have the configuration, you need to go through the device settings and ensure they are correct.

Did you import a markcfg7 file or ?

:grinning_cat:

Thanks for your reply Jack, yes, I imported the markcfg7, but parameters seens dont fit, I try to tunnig it manually but I don´t get a “progressive way” in it, I change like 0.001 in galvo settings and pattern change a lot, its almost impossible to check if I´m aproaching the right value.

Did you know if have a faster way to tunning it? like I need to go to device settings, change value, press ok, close window, and start frame to check it… Something like keep frame aways on while increment settings value will be very usefull.

Other point I noticed is that scale seems to be much “sensitive”, I mean, I used 62% on the test of picture I posted before, if I put >61% the galvo moves just a little, but >63% already make the galvos mirrors go to extreme conner of area. I already seem similar problem (if my memory don´t fool me) in some machines that have a communication bit rate set too high (like set 20-bit in software on a 16-bit galvo) but I don´t found how to change bit rate on LightBurn

Usually the markcgf7 file has all you need.

Lightburn has a lens alignment system, I think it’s under laser tools. Might try theirs.

:grinning_cat:

The galvos moves too erradic to use this tool, it is to fine ajustments. Don´t work in my case

Someone like @Aaron.F would likely have to help you… You’ve exceeded what I know about galvo settings.

Hang in there, it’s Saturday…

:grinning_cat:

Ok, Thank you anyway Jack, much apreciate :+1:

Hang in there… There isn’t much user information on these, so I think you’d be smart to get in touch with one of the Lightburn people. They are on top of this.

Is it the raggedy rubberband shape in the photo you are talking about? or is it the filled rectangle? I also see a pattern of semicircles and a faint grid. Is that reflection on your enclosure? What are you engraving on? I like to use the 2” wide black painters tape and cover the base with that, low power leaves a nice crisp white line.

In photo I draw a 10x10mm square on software, but red dot frame preview show this “rubberband shape”. Ignore those marks on table.

I’ve been playing with a galvo laser for over 3 years, smoke testing it every way possible, there is no adjustment I am aware of that will fix that. In my opinion  something is broken or burned out. Seeing how you didn’t say it is mis-firing, I would think the galvo head is fubar, rather then the board or software. But just an Occam’s razor guess.

Did the laser ever work correctly?

If it were me, before spending money on new parts I would first pull the lens off and look up into the mirror assembly (make sure laser is unplugged!) look for a loose or broken mirror and/or servo, maybe a cracked or otherwise damaged lens. Look for evidence of a lens to mirror clearance issue. Then I would open up the case and look for loose wires, check the voltage on the power supplies, look for obvious damage on the fiber optic cable, board, etc. Maybe purchase a new DB15 CON 1 cable and temporarily run directly from the board to the galvo.

Then, again if it were me, I would start with a new galvo head.

Something else, maybe something maybe nothing, are you 100% sure you have genuine Lightburn software? You could download a copy of ezcad and swap the drivers, see if that works.

EDIT: Here is why I asked about the license, I don’t know if this applies to galvos or not.

This laser worked normal with a bsl card and SeaCad, but I put this card in other machine and this laser stay off for more or less 1 year.

I´m using trial of LightBurn.

So you put a new card in this laser?

Yes, I put a LMC2015 FIBER-M.

When you created the device profile did you import the specific settings that match/came the card? Or are you using old settings from an old card?

Im using settings from old card, I don´t have new settings for new card and don´t know how I will set it, because, like I said before:

I try to tunnig it manually but I don´t get a “progressive way” in it, I change like 0.001 in galvo settings and pattern change a lot, its almost impossible to check if I´m aproaching the right value.

Are you selecting the correct Laser Type? Also did you check if the pins match?

I went through all the posts and don’t see what specific laser source you have, but that card should generally work, if you have the right laser source selected and the correct power supply.

So to recap, please confirm or correct:

Laser worked fine with BSL board and seacad

Replaced the board

Didn’t change lens

Didn’t change lens adapter

No obvious damage to fiber cable, lens or mirrors

Raggedy Rubberband is all the output you get now

Laser source is ? What?

The problem is not in laser source.
Laser source works ok, its turn on and off in right time, PWM power scale seems to be correct, etc…
The only problem is galvo mirrors moving erradic

Yes, understand that part. Question is do you want to just throw parts at it or do you want to narrow it down a bit. You didn’t really go down my list and answer so not much more I can do other then ask the same questions again.
