Before doing anything else, measure and set the Scanning Offset Adjustment over speeds from 50 through 500 mm/s:
That will clean up the ragged edges of the letters and images and simplify further troubleshooting. A measuring loupe / magnifier will help get the numbers needed for the offset correction.
With that done, upload a screenshot of the Preview window for that job, as well as a close photo of the overall results. If the Preview has the same mis-positioned characters as on the material, then the problem is in the font or the design, rather than in the laser.
Use cardboard (with reduced power), rather than wood, until you’re confident the job works as intended.
