I have the ever popular ComgoZ1. I run Win10, 64bit OS. with grbl. I get this MSG when i try to HOME:
ALARM:9
Homing fail. Could not find limit switch within search distance. Defined as 1.5 * max_travel on search and 5 * pulloff on locate phases.
ok
Could some one please tell me what this means and where should I go to rectify it? When my engraver homes, it gets to the left front corner and shakes, as if it is trying to continue on its path. Thank you for any insight, I am developing a love/hate relationship with this thing. I have yet to do anything with it, well… aside from cuss at it. Again, thanks for any help.
I don’t think this machine has limit switches - that means you won’t be able to automatically home it.
If that’s the case, you’ll need to manually home it, following one of the methods found here:
You should also make sure you do not have ‘Auto-home on startup’ enabled in your Device Settings (‘Edit’ > ‘Device Settings’), and enter ‘$22=0’ in the ‘Console’ window to disable homing in your machine’s firmware.
If it does have limit switches, it sounds like they’re not wired correctly. Check to make sure they’re correctly wired, with snug connections.
It has one limit switch on the right side. (opposite of where it would home). I unplugged the switch and replugged it. I did have ‘Auto-home on startup’ enabled. I unchecked that one and it is rebooting. Thank you sooo much for your time on this snafu. Will keep you posted.
