I was successful buying from etsy importing and burning PNG, JPG’s but now when I import a PNG, JPG image from friends when on either grayscale of pass thru it looks perfect in LB preview. I send it to the machine it is solid black. Help appreciated
FYI, it’s a 50 W CO2 glass laser
What is the controller on that 50W laser? A specific model of that laser or a photo of the controller works, if you’re unsure.
On the preview itself, it will just look black. The machine doesn’t know what to do with the grayscale data. You actually have to run it.
I tried to run it. It does print black.

Maybe you misread what I said. if I buy a PNG or JPEG off Etsy they burned fine in grayscale. It’s only when I’m given a file from a family member that it burns out black
Without knowing anything about those images, I can’t know why they worked.
Many Etsy sellers pre-dither images, or use halftone, so they work on a wide variety of hardware or settings, because they’ve honestly done the processing work for you in advance.
If you zoom in on one of those purchased images, is it all small black & white dots?
If they are, then your choice of image setting in LightBurn is largely irrelevant.
If they are “continuous tone” images, like a normal photo, and they worked using the same settings you tried here, I’ll be surprised, but we’ll figure out why.
