New to CNC Laser wanting to purchase a Ortur laser, watched many video’s everyone is using this software. My question is do I need to purchase a device from the main website or can I plug my macbook pro into the machine and run the project?

When you purchase a lasing system, you should get some sort of software to help you define your job and drive the hardware.
LightBurn is software that is an alternative, or replacement to the manufacture’s provided software solution.
I use a Macbook pro. It is connected to my Ortur LM1 laser via USB. I run LightBurn software to control my laser from my macbook. Works perfect. Hope this helps.
