Help. lightburn bridge, raspberry pi and wizard errors-no laser connected

Can anyone help please? I have a pc upstairs and the laser downstairs in my garage. I set up the raspberry pi using imager. Added txt file. added the ruida text. Connected the pi to the laser. The pi is connected to my network but the wizard for bridge shows the ip address, type of conn but no laser found? When I us the ip address on the internet I get the pi and ruida is connected?

Your profile states you have an Atomstack machine. These have grbl based controllers most of which are streaming.

The PI is normally used for a wireless connection to a Ruida, so I’m not sure what you’re up to.

Whose image did you use when you set up your PI using imager?

I’m not sure what this means. If it relates to names in the PI, this is only for a Ruida controller.

Used a raspberry pi imager. In the advanced configuration wifi setup online they suggest using a txt file to identify the ssid and password. After starting the pi once add the text for laser ip device type, and ap name. I may be following the wrong information here. I’m not savvy with this stuf.

The LightBurn Bridge is not compatible with GCode devices - like Atomstack lasers - it is only compatible with Ruida controlled lasers

I have an atomstack A70 max and AC 2 camera. What is the best way to connect wifi and use lightburn software?

There is no “best” way. WIFI is too flakey (varying signal strength) to be used reliably. If I had to do it, I would set up the laser with a separate router configured as an extender and hook the laser to that. Of course, you would need more than just the router.

Your question implies that you are trying to run the laser remotely. If so, that is a very bad idea. Lasers burn things, including burning down houses, garages, and worksheds. Think Safety First, not last.

Thanks for your input. You guys are a great help. You have made me rethink things. All of my graphic programs are in my pc upstairs but I may have to bring them down stairs with a jump drive to a laptop for safety. Not sure yet.

What you could do is share a drive letter between the PC’s.

Google how to share pc drives on a wifi network
