Limit switches would be located on one end of the X gantry and in one corner on the Y axis. They look like this typically.
I don’t think the Ray 5 comes with limit switches, but they are available as an add on.
If you don’t have limit switches you need to turn off Auto home on startup. That should solve your error 9.

Also, you must manually home the machine every time you turn it on, so that the controller knows where the laser head is on the platform:
That will eliminate all the future “smashing into the sides” problems other folks struggle with.
