I have set up the Lightburn software and its chatting to my laser machine (yay!)… I have also gotten as far as to cut a rectangle.
Cutting text though… am sure I am missing a very simple step? I add the text… click START and it just sits in one spot?
Yet when I make a rectangle and start, off it goes…

If you can show a screen capture of your layer settings, it would be helpful. Check the layer for the text, ostensibly set to fill, and ensure that the output column has a tick. Use the preview button to see the results, which reduces waste in the long run.
Your operating system and a note that you are using an Emblaser 1 is also helpful, but probably not in this circumstance. My Emblaser is collecting dust since I got a super-zapper (CO2), so I can’t give you specific approach just yet.

One aspect of the E1 I can recall is that it is necessary to hold the laser button on the console until it flickers. Is that still a requirement for LB? I suspect that it is. When you were able to cut the rectangle, was that part of your workflow?
It also looks like you have debug drawing enabled (that’s the pink rectangles around everything). You can turn that off by clicking Edit > Debug Drawing.
I’m not familiar with any special ways the Emblaser 1 works, but Fred could easily be right.

I’ve debugged and still the same. Press start it moves to position then stops
I’m keen to purchase after the trial but not if I can’t cut text.

Ok, that’s a good start. In LightBurn, click the ‘Save GCode’ button near the Start button, give it a filename that ends in .txt and then attach that file here so I can have a look.

I got a message from Darkly labs:
Please ask her to verify what version of the firmware she is running on her machine. If it is 1.8, then she needs to update to v2.0. The instructions are here:
In the console, type G10 L2 P1 X0 Y0 and press enter. That should reset that.
Thank you! They are all 0’s now… now, the Laser looks upside down… I press the button to move it around, and it seems to be reversed? eg if I press the bottom left corner, the laser goes to the top right corner
