Hot Wire on Tube Fried

Help, I have a OM Tech 1624 60w and it stopped firing today. I open the case and the hot wire on the laser tube is fried, all the insulation is burned off. The tube still have water in it and the chiller seems to be circulating, but can I replace the wire of do you think it need a new tube? How should I go about testing the power supply itself? Any input is appreciated.

Commonly these don’t fry or burn up. The insulation breaks down and it completes it’s circuit the case… Never seen one burn off the insulation.

This usually occurs when the tube fails and the high voltage gets too high, causing the insulation breakdown.

I assume you are speaking of the anode to the tube, that’s the hv line.

Can you post a photo?

Do you think the power unit itself would still be ok?

Maybe, but I’ve never seen one so damaged. It looks like it arced to the frame in the rear.

I would replace the tube, and re-wire the hv to it…

You can splice it, I have these white connectors on mine…
