How can I select lines and areas for different layers?

Please, I don’t know how to set the perimeter to cut out
How can I select lines and areas for different layers?
The color coded ones I would like to engrave
Is there a tool I can use to mark it?

If I have to select layers when I draw,
is there a tool that I can use to simply outline the wrong drawing?

(This is my first attempt to draw
and this is where I got stuck)

The outside wedges need to be closed shapes. You can do that by first dupicating your drawing then you can cut and node edit to get a closed wedge that you can now replace the wedges you have now.
On inner circle you can do slight offset on the outer circle to get your fill.

Thank you so much!

Please, how do I place the cut part exactly in place?
Is there better tool than arrow?

I dont understand:
On inner circle you can do slight offset on the outer circle to get your fill.

I use the old one and place the new over it and then delete the one I don’t want.
Just think of fill mode as each line the laser crosses over as triggering the laser on or off, so by adding a line with offset tool in the right place it will the trigger the laser on where you want to engrave.

Thank you so much!
(I searched the video and manual but found nothing…
I tried cutting the line and connecting
but I don’t know why I couldn’t cut the line :frowning:

I was wondering if there was some clever way to connect the part.
Even with fine tuning, I’m not hitting it exactly, but I’m learning.

Work in node edit mode. Make sure everything is converted to path.
On big outside circle click on circle and insert nodes “I” at ends of wedges. Then hover over part you want to delete and “D” like in above. Then grab line and move it together. I like to select pieces and use alt+J to make a closed shape. You can select fill and if you get your closed shape it will then fill inside.

Not connected.

Connected. Getting nodes to join can be a little tricky.
And you can only joint two segments together.

More than two won’t join. Which is why your drawing won’t fill.

WOW
Thank you!
I think it was probably connected in the original drawing, is that possible?

I’m looking forward to tomorrow
that I won’t get stuck like today

None of these can be joined as there are more than 2 points.
Maybe you can post your file. That might help to explain how to do this.

Looks like you got it.
