How do I crop an image?

I’m new to Lightburn, but am doing mostly image work, not cutting. I have an image I imported that I need to crop. Masking isn’t the answer, as it leaves the whole image underneath, and in order to move the image I have to move both the image and the masking item, which has thrown things out of whack. I just want to copy the picture to another layer and crop out what I don’t want and have it all be deleted, not hiding, I tried the scissors/trim function, but that didn’t do anything. Do I have to do all image editing prior to loading the image into Lightburn, even including cropping (which HUGELY increasing the effort required to do simple tasks)? This is a really basic feature, why can’t I find it? Do they call it something else? I must be missing something, Please help

That little icon is how you can upload your Lightburn file, or you can screen cap and paste directly into the reply window.

The image doesn’t matter, it’s a jpg that was imported. I want to set a box around part of it and delete everything outside of it. Very basic stuff. Surely, there’s a function that crops.

To mask over an image in LightBurn (essentially cropping) follow this guide: Apply Mask to Image - LightBurn Documentation

Masking isn’t cropping. It leaves the entire image in place, and when I try to move the selected area around, the image moves underneath the “mask”. I simply want to delete everything outside of the masked area.

After apply mask to image, right click and choose flatten image mask.

+1 to FLATTEN MASK - really, the details DO matter. We cannot read your mind. You missed a very simple and a very critical step.

Thank you, Tim.
