Right after the 2.1 update my laser started moving slow. It does not frame the size of the project at all.

don’t have an x tool, have NEJE max 80, WeCreat pro and algo laser that I use at shows
On the Wecreate, if you are using CustomGcode, you will have to update the profile to Wecreate flavor - while keeping the Wecreate disconnected.
What issues exactly were you experiencing on the Neje and AlgoLaser?
Those should be basic GRBL.
the speed and laser setting are in inches and the power setting is not working properly
If you happened to install 2.1.0 directly there is a possibility that the units got mixed up - this was fixed on 2.1.01
this PSA explains the steps to correct the profile on 2.1.0
