It depends on the cnc engraver.
A couple of folks here are running Newing-Hall engravers - It’s a Pneumatic Z control. I’ve seen a couple of Plasma Cutters and one fellow with a Long Arm Quilting Machine posted here a while back.
LightBurn doesn’t officially support it but it sure seems like folks are encouraged to take their best shot at it.

I don’t have any indication that it can be done at the present time.
