Thanks for all the comments and suggestions, I’m storing them up and hopefully making practical sense of them all.
I have noted that there are so many variations on a theme and that it will end up as a ‘What suits my particular setup’.
Helpful group which I am enjoying being part of, maybe one day I will be able to be helpful rather than all questions.

industrial fish tank pump for 20-30 $ and the arm kit from etsy or aliexpress, if you can be bothered. I use a fan and if I need a really clean job, 200mm wide masking tape, peel off when its done
