That is a preview of what the laser will do while scanning left and right to burn the image. [Called traversal moves.] Having some weight, the laser head must slow down and speed up to working speed before it begins or ends firing.
When you have that much red beyond your image, you might have the speed set too high or some acceleration setting in your machine preferences set incorrectly.
The red it only an indicator, and the display in the preview can be turned off at the bottom of the preview window.
In addition to what @patricr mentioned, the graphic is 100 mm across, making the overscan look much larger that it really is.
Ruida controllers handle overscan internally, so LightBurn simulates those calculations to show what will happen. You must fetch the controller’s settings to get an accurate simulation:
