Yes, you can use USB extensions. The longer, the worse. Make sure to use an active cable. Better move the control PC closer to the laser or add a small laser laptop to the laser workplace.
As @misken mentioned. The only thing I recommend that the laptop has a generous screen. Small screens don’t help when you need to correct or change something in the project.
I read someone else used USB extenders that used RJ-45 CAT 6 ethernet cable between them. I would choose this option.
I would also install a camera to view the work area. It does not have to be Lightburn compatible, but to act as a safety link in case of fire.
Lastly, I would install 175 degree thermostats connected to an alarm system at the intake of the exhaust system.
It has been said many times to not run a laser remotely or without direct supervision. Bad things can and do happen.
We can only recommend putting a computer next to your laser, because you shouldn’t be sending jobs from a distance beyond your ability to monitor the laser. Any sort of USB extension can and does cause problems often.
