How to join the nodes from different layers together into one shape?

Hi guys,
like it in the attached file, i wanna join the nodes from 2 differents layers together, i have tried the ctl +j and manuelly dragged the nodes together in the node editing mode, but it just didnt seem to be working. can we actually join them together? because i would like to set up different speed to each layer

The drag is trivial, and works perfectly - if you grab one node and drag it to another, they snap, and the positions are identical - I’ve verified this.
