How to place segments of a shape on different layers

Given the image on the left, I’d like to know how to get to the image on the right. The goal is to make the blue lines appear on a different layer, red is cut, blue is score.

I’ve tried a few things like cut shapes, some of the boolean tools, even manually editing it with node edit, but wasn’t sure about how to change the layers. Thanks!

Duplicate the first shape, assign it tothe blue layer and use a combination of the snipping tool and boolean as needed to delete everything you don’t want.

It depends on how this shape is set up, but using the Edit Nodes tool you should be able to insert nodes at the intersections (if they don’t already exist there) then break the shapes on both ends of the segments you want to set to another layer.

From there, it’s just a matter of selecting the broken segments and assigning them to a new layer using the Color Palette.

If you’re still struggling after trying the above, sharing the file here will allow us to take a closer look and offer additional help.

Thanks! Using the node edit worked like a charm. I did as you mentioned, inserting nodes, breaking at those points, double clicking on them, then setting them to a different layer. Much appreciated!
