How to save reloading of deleted “machine setting” back into lightburn console

Hi, I have a monport K 40 with the upgraded controller, lightburn ready using Grbl 1.1. I backed up my machine settings and due to my laser not wanting to burn for the material test, I entered the setting that were listed in the machine settings docs. Once that was done, my laser no longer would home and kept hitting the front of the laser bed. I tried to reload my saved settings and it will not load. I have tried to enter previous settings manually in the controller and they won’t save. I then tried to reset the machine settings to default settings per docs by deleting the files in the preference folder. Now there is nothing for machine settings. I enter $$ in the controller and get nothing. When I open the machine settings via edit tab there is nothing listed anymore to edit. It appears I have deleted everything involving machine settings and do not know where to go from here, as the controller will not save manually entered commands.
Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Try power cycle your machine (power and USB) wait 30 seconds and reconnect.
Then with your machine correctly connected to Lightburn check here:

The settings in the DOC are only an example, if you are unsure report back and we will guide you.

Ok will do. Be back.

Machine setting are blank. Do I use the setting in the link you attached or are those examples as well?

I definitely need guidance. I have tried to enter commands in the console, but it is not saving them. In the edit>machine settings is blank and I don’t know how to enter anything in that window.

Post some screenshots of your machine correctly connected with the initial response
and the machine settings fields ?
As in:

Remember to see the values Lightburn must be correctly connected to your machine.

Well hopefully they uploaded correctly. They are blank anyway. That’s the problem.

On LightBurn disable auto-home at startup, and power cycle the laser after reconect type $$ in console and post the output.

Yes the laser was hooked up correctly and test firing.
The pics are with the laser hooked up correctly as well. The issue is what I explained above.
All the steps that were taken, including the entering of the example setting was researched and found in the lightburn forum. Obviously not all are going to work. I just didn’t think I would completely disable the thing. I’m so frustrated. I have been working through this for a while now. I hope I didn’t totally erase the firmware.
I appreciate any help that is given. I do work nights so if you don’t hear back right away during the day that’s why.
Again thank you for any help and/or guidance

I will do that tomorrow morning when I get home and then post. Have get some sleep as I work a 12 tonight.
I just wanted a hobby to get my mind off the stress of taking care of patients. SMH. But I am determined to get this figured out.
Thank you!!!

Thank you for being a care-giver. That work takes a special kind of person.

You cannot delete them, you can only change them (if your controller permits it). You did not break it.

Have you checked the recycle bin to see if you can recover the files from there ?

No but will when I get home.

Also read the below document:

Because your machine wasn’t connected in the “Machine settings” screen.

I did change cords, deleted the laser and reloaded, turned off, unplugged, turned back on, rebooted laptop, but machine settings still blank, but will try again.
The other thing I need to try is turning off auto-homing and check my trash can, which I will do later in the AM.

Check the connection guide because :

When you access the Machine settings window Lightburn wasn´t connected to the laser and so the window is blank.

OMG!! Thank you Jesus and FerAS!! I have attached the screen shot of my machine settings as well as the console. I tried to home the laser and I am still getting the Alarm 8. I would greatly appreciate input on start out settings for material testing acrylic. That is all I want to do is cut acrylic, 1mm-3mm. Is that too much to ask of my laser? haha. I’m not difficult.
Again, thank you in advance for your help and guidance. I now must shower and go to bed as I work tonight. I won’t be able to do any extensive things until Sunday evening, but can tweak again tommorrow AM.
Very greatful,
Melisa

Alarm 8: It did not move off the Home switch far enough. Your $27 parameter =1, which is rarely enough. Try $27=2 or $27=3 to see if that makes a difference.

Set $21=1
$10=1 (for now, or 0)
$130=700
$131=350
Did you change any of these values or any other GRBL settings?

Also change width to 700 and height to 350, disable Fire button and post a screenshot of Edit > Device settings.
After the above changes draw a square 50mm side and laser the square in a piece of cheap cardboard with power just to mark. After that measure it and post the results.

I will do that in the AM and post. Thank you!!!
