What type of rotary? Assume if you are doing rings it is a small chuck type. What is your experience level? Rings are pretty easy but you will burn through a few practicing. AliExpress has titanium rings for 3 bucks or so, good practice pieces.

Its a small chuck for holding small rings bangles etc
Wonder do I need a a different lens for ring engraving as my lens is 150mm

You can do rings with any lens. 150 is fine. Got something else going on..

Yes ring gets hot but doesn’t mark it

Sounds like out of focus or maybe a screwy cut setting.
What laser do you have? Power? What are the rings made out of? My laser is 60W and I did some titanium rings the other day with the 175x175, came out good. (Might have been 110x110, don’t remember but 150x150 should be fine) This is my test file. Did some mexican silver rings, got a nice deep engraving.

Titanium, 1 pass

Silver, multiple passes and mixed up interval and splits to get a nice deep black.

Ok great thanks will try those settings .My laser is 50w power from Dowin laser. Focus is fine just have trouble getting a mark on silver or gold or stainless steel in rotary set up .Everything else is fine
Thanks

So something to try is baby powder or a black sharpie, super reflecting materials like polished gold might be reflecting the energy, a coating might help it get a bite .
