HTML Files? instead of SVG

I purchased some earring files and they supposedly contained SVG as well as a others, however when I unzip them the SVG files are not there but have changed to HTML files which I cannot load into Lightburn.

I would usually ask you to attach one of the files here but I imagine they’re copyrighted and the license doesn’t allow you to distribute them. You could try this:

  1. Open the HTML file in your web browser
  2. If you see a graphic then right-click and save image. There might be multiple formats on the same page so you might have to go through some trial and error to find the SVG.

Let us know how you get on.

When you buy from people, they generally want a good review posted. I’ve gotten many svg files that are not avg, but actuality are just jpg or some type of image file.

You should ask the vendor why you got html and not svg files. Sometimes mistakes are made. At minimum they should be able to advise you how to use them.

I’ve gotten html and found they contained a link to the file I needed, you need to open them with your browser as @Marcus_Wakefield advised.

Your system is associating the SVG extension with your browser. You can still open the files in Lightburn by File>Import and navigate to the SVG files you purchased and select which one you want.

I did contact the vender straight away, they just said its because my PC has not got the right programme to open SVG which is rubbish because I have purchased loads of SVGs and never had a problem before.

Thanks, I’ll give it a try and let you know.

You can always try and change the extension from html to svg… however I doubt this is the problem, but it’s possible. Seems like a poor way to package something.

My Linux box, doesn’t recognize svg files either, but I have no problem opening them with other software. The OS doesn’t seem to know how to display them.

Unfortunately I cannot do that because as soon as I unzip the file it becomes an HTML file. I tried that first

IT WORKED! Thank you Marcus, brilliant

Great! You’re welcome. I’m pleased it worked for you.

BTW, don’t forget to mark my post as the solution as it can help others in a similar situation in the future.

I don’t think this part of the forum allows for a solved flag to be used…
