I am having a lot of overscanning whitespace all of the sudden. What kind of setting have I messed up?

Well, without seeing your settings one can only guess. My crystal ball is in the shop this week. Post a screenshot of your project with the layers panel showing and also post a screenshot of the cut settings editor screen for a start.

Sorry about that. I meant to post the settings on this. I opened another project and everyone of my projects now show the same whitespace issue.

Easy fix. Change back to mm/min. You’re in in/min. Settings menu, Units & Grids.
Then set speed appropriately.
