I feel stupid for buying a 2.5d laser

I bought the laser a while ago thinking ezcad3 can’t be that bad but it really is awful. It’s usable up until you want to 3d slice a depth map or something complex and it completely bricks every time. I built a high end gaming pc just to run this kind of stuff, and cad etc on so it’s not the processing power, the pc is lightning fast.

It pains me watching people with 2d lasers go into lightburn, 3d slice an image, and get better outcomes than me with the actual laser that’s suppose to be designed for relief style engravings.

This has been more of a rant up until now but I’m at my breaking point with ezcad3 for anything other than simple vectors, rasters, or text etc.

I know lightburn has been working on integrating their software with ezcad3 boards, and the communications are encrypted.

If someone cares to answer this I’d like to know exactly what the problem is, and exactly what you need to help crack the puzzle? I’m not a professional hacker by any means but I definitely have played with it in the past. I saw from a forum they used wireshark to decode communications to the ezcad2 board. I’m guessing that the data being returned over the usb port is encrypted, and they can’t figure it out.

Assuming somehow that the data gets decrypted what is the next step?

I’m fully aware of the board downgrade option but I’d like to keep my board, and don’t want to spend the money. I’d like to know approximately where to start trying to help because this is a problem.

One thing I know from previous experience with things like this is if you try hard enough you will eventually succeed. Anything can be cracked if a human made it.

That seems to be the general consensus.

I have been following the developers thread and it looks like they have had some success… but full support is a ways off yet.

But I know these guys are seriously wizards, so don’t lose hope.
