I tried to update to the newest version, out my installed Linux version, and I get a notice, when it finishes DL, that there is a problem in opening the program and then the system locks up. I have no problem with the installed version

I am running the Linux version now,on a PC, and when I tried to update to the newest version I get a notice, when it finishes DL, that there is a problem in opening the program and then system locks up. I have no problem with the installed version and I have 274 days left for updates. I have my other windows version on a laptop, under of the same license, and had no problem updating it. Need help.

Can you attach a screenshot of what you’re seeing please?

What version of Linux are you running and which Linux download did you get?

I will provide a screen shot of Linux version but it will take an hour or more for the Dl to finish so I can take a screen shot of the message. BTW, it only took a few minuets to DL the windows version and to install it. I will do this after lunch because I have been married for over 50 years and I know how to keep the peace when the wife say’s it’s time to eat.

Curious. They should be hosted on the same server. Wonder what’s going on there. I just checked and I was able to download the .run version and it finished very quickly. Might be something else going on there.

Impressive run that I’m hoping to emulate.

I’m back, give some time to DL.

This is screen after starting DL.

It is about half way loading. As a thought, can I just DL the new version on web site and install it and it will recognize my license?

Yes. This shouldn’t be a problem. Is that not what you did here?

What did you do to get to this point? Did you double-click the .run file from a file manager? The process should very fast so curious what’s happening.

I clicked on “yes” in the update box that opened when I opened my existing Lightburn and it began with this screen but it also saved a file in my DL directory and this will do the same thing when I DBL click it.

This what I get.

This is after it has finished Dl.

It looks like it’s trying to edit the file by default.

Try doing this instead.

Open a terminal. Change to where you downloaded the file. Then run the installer with bash. Should be something like this:

cd ~/Downloads
bash ./LightBurn-Linux64-v1.1.01.run

I ran it and it indicates that it has installed but I haven’t been able to run it for existing icon
image
.

It probably needs the ‘LightBurn.desktop’ file modified to point to the correct directory or executable.

BERAINLB, I have solved it thanks to your help. I had not gone to the directory where it has install the new version but I have it running now. Thanks for the help and this is a great piece of software of which I thank all involved with it.
