I am making signs with reflective material. I want to leave the letters intact, and cut out around each letter, cutting out to a rectangular border.
Sorry, but I’m not following you. Do you mean cutting it out similar to a stencil?
I also don’t get it completely, maybe show a drawing explaining what you want to do. Do you want to have an offset around each letter? Use the offset tool…
Like a mirrored acrylic where you want to burn the “background” and leave the letters reflective/mirrored?
Just draw a rectangle of the desired size and position on the same layer and set the layer to fill.
Exactly. I want to use reflective acrylic and have the letters show. I drew a rectangle, but when I filled it, I lost thw letters undwrneath. I do not understand your direction of keeping the rectangle in the same layer. How do I do that?
Same color = same layer.
Did you use the text tool in Lightburn to create the letters?
Yes, I used the text tool. Okay, so I will make the text and the rectangle the same color. That was easy. I will try that today. Thank you.
You may want to set aside a day or two for “school”. Lightburn has a lot to offer but isn’t always intuitive for people to learn.
