I want to pick your brain a little.... Laser engraving photos

I am trying to engrave photos on lightburn. I had initially tried engraving some black and white cartoons for the kids, and they went fine. But then, I tried engraving a regular picture and it engraved in the negative. I tried toggling the invert selection when I look at the playback mode, etc., would still come out as negative. I went back to photoshop and inverted the image to a negative and then it printed fine.

Why did the cartoons print ok, but I had to invert the photos?

Thanks!

Try going into you cut layers where you adjust your speed and power. Change the negative button there and see if that fixes your problem. I believe in playback it only changes the view not the actual laser setting.
