I would like to create a macro to burn only certain layers. I am new and may be using the wrong keyword

I have created an object which consist of several layers and several boards to burn. The project is made-up of several different boards, each board burned in different ways. Some boards consist of layers 00, 01, 02, and 03. While another board uses layers 00, 02, 06, 08. Currently when I burn the board I want, I manually turn On / Off the “Output” option, this works, but was wondering if I could make it easier. Like name a “macro” layer like “Front Board” and that “macro” would select the needed layers. A separate macro “Rear Board” would select the required layers to burn. I guess I could separate the project into different filenames. But when creating the total project, I found with everything shown made sure everything would line-up. I apologize if I am not using the correct words for the function I am looking for. I looked up “Group” but that seems only to work with objects. Thank you in advance.

When I have front-back or top-bottom versions, I create 2 versions of Lightburn with identical layers except different ones are turned on. Usually I have different parts in the burn area, but that is not relevant to your job.

What I do is drag the desired part program onto the work area. The load is almost instant, likely as fast as searching for the macro button.

Check out “cut selected graphics only”, that’s what you are looking for, technically. Do not mess around with deactivating layers, just select the shapes you want to send and click on start. This screenshot is from a different tutorial, but it shows it roughly:

You can also shift-click the layer in the cuts/layers window to select all objects on that layer, rather than hunting down the individual pieces. That, plus cut-selected-graphics will probably get you pretty close to what you want.

What I also do is setup a square on a locked layer that is output=no and align everything within its boundaries. Then, use-selection-origin and everything will line up in the same place when you chose different layers. You can also do absolute position, but I’ve found the selection origin to be more flexible.
