I'm not sure what is going on here with my machine. I have been having problems when go to cut lines, it ballons

I have been having problems with things balloning up when I use Line for cutting things out. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

A photo would help illuminate what you’re experiencing. Also, a full screenshot of LightBurn showing your design.

I hope these help

Looks like to me you have a rather large kerf offset adjustment configured. Check your Cut settings for kerf adjustment and either correct or remove.

Don’t I need the cursor setting to cut through 8 inch plywood?

You don’t need kerf settings to cut. Kerf adjustment exists to account for kerf of laser cut. It does not affect cutting performance.

Read more about what this setting does here:
Line Mode - LightBurn Software Documentation

Also, if you’re attempting to cut through 8 inches of plywood I suggest you give up now. Even the strongest lasers commonly used with LightBurn will have no chance to cut 8 inches of plywood.

If you’re using the xTool listed in your profile then you’d be lucky to get through even 1/2 inch after much agony.

My guess is it’s 8th of an inch not 8 inches… or about 3mm…?

Sorry that was a typo on my part it’s 1/8”. Thank you everyone for the help I will try the kerf settings tonight when I get home.

Before wasting material… run it through preview … You should always do that, it will save time and materials…

I always do use preview that’s how I caught the problem. Thanks for the tip just in case I wasn’t using it

Sorry, didn’t notice the photo… Screen shots are much more easily read by users…

Did you check kerf?
